Civikos Platform and the Kosovo Foundation for Civil Society (KCSF) have organized a joint meeting between civil society organizations and relevant public institutions to discuss the challenges and problems of NGOs in accessing financial services. This roundtable was organized in co-operation with the Netherlands-based European Center for Non-Profit Law (ECNL). Furthermore, experts from the Human Security Collective have shared European good practices on how some countries have addressed similar problems that NGOs have faced in accessing financial services.
The purpose of this meeting is to foster inter-institutional dialogue between representatives of Kosovo institutions, institutions responsible for providing banking services, and civil society organizations in order to discuss how to address the problems that NGOs are facing in ensuring acess to financial services, and at the same time to address the risk of money laundering and potential financing terrorism in the non-governmental sector.
Present in the meeting were Officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Public Administration – NGO Department, Central Bank – Anti Money Laundering Division, Financial Intelligence Unit, Kosovo Banking Association, representatives of foundations and civil society organizations attended the roundtable. in Kosovo.
This roundtable marks the second public activity CiviKos has organized in this regard, while other advocacy events will be organized to enhance inter-institutional cooperation and facilitate NGO access to financial services.
